Assistant Brewer - East Brother Beer Co.  Richmond, CA

About Us

East Brother Beer Co. is a new 20 bbl brewery located in Point Richmond, CA.  We produce lagers and ales, with a focus on clean and timeless styles and recipes.  We can and/or keg every batch for distribution or for serving in our on-site taproom.  We are currently expanding our cellar.  We are seeking a cellarworker/assistant brewer to assist our current head brewer in all aspects of the production side.

About the Job

This is a new position.  You will report directly to our current head brewer and will be the second production employee we have.  This is a chance to get into a brewery at the ground level and grow with us as you expand your knowledge and passion of brewing.  You will be primarily responsible for cleaning/sanitizing brew vessels, filtering batches of beer, yeast management, dry-hopping, assistance in canning runs and general cleaning/organizing of the brewery.  Eventually you will be trained in wort production/brewing with the ideal candidate being capable of running any task in the brewery solo once fully trained.  This will be a full-time, salaried, exempt position with wages being based on experience and knowledge.  Hours will mainly be dayshift M-F, with the occasional evening shift or random tasks on weekends (checking gravities, dry-hopping or attending brew fests).

Ideal Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours at a time or longer
  • Be able to lift 55# sacks of grain and move 165# kegs safely
  • Willing to work in a hot, noisy, wet environment with exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals
  • Must be able to keep legible records, be detail oriented, and have the ability to strictly follow S.O.P.s (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Self motivated and able to work independently, or as part of a team
  • Strong mechanical skills and facility working with hand and power tools a must.

Preferred candidates will have previous experience working in a production plant, brewery or extensive home brewing experience.  An education in a chemistry or biology-related field is also appreciated.

East Brother Beer Company – Delivery Driver Job Description


East Brother Beer Company, a new production brewery in Richmond, California, is looking for its first delivery driver. This is initially a part-time position that we are looking to grow into a full time opportunity.  We’re interested in talking to self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to wear many hats. And of course, people who love beer!


Drivers will be responsible for:

  • Preparing paperwork for orders
  • Loading orders in proper order for delivery while observing proper safety procedures for product storage, lifting, etc.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of delivery vehicle and cold room
  • Delivering orders and invoices to customers within the assigned delivery windows 
  • Collecting payment from customers where applicable and knowing payment terms
  • Keeping an eye and ear open for sales opportunities and talking to potential customers about East Brother Beer
  • Communication - Relaying information back to East Brother Beer that is pertinent. Examples would be customer concerns/compliments, additional sales opportunities mentioned when interacting with customers, etc. 
  • Providing excellent customer service, ensuring that all of our customers have the best possible experience with East Brother Beer


  • Outgoing personality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and remain calm in a bustling environment
  • A love for craft beer and a working knowledge of the industry 
  • 2-3 years experience in deliveries and customer service
  • Attention to detail, cleanliness, and ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal communication and skills
  • Flexible schedule 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record
  • Some weekends may be required

Physical Requirements

Able to reach, bend, stoop, lift 55 lbs to shoulder height, and manage transport of 165 lb kegs
Ability to safely operate a handtruck and maneuver heavy items (up to 165lbs.) safely
Knowing when to ask for help with heavy items
